In 1998, the CESAG’s direction, then University School of Education, promoted the pioneering idea of creating a Psychopedagogical Guidance Unit to train the future teachers, not only academically but also integrally, attending the students in an individualized way in personal and academic matters hat transcended the functions of lecturers and tutors.
At present the CESAG’s Counselling Service offers individual or group attention to meet the demands of students and thus offer comprehensive training to students in the university context of the European framework of Higher Education.
The individual interventions are carried out through personal and confidential consultations arranged by appointment, via mail, at the request of the student and allow the monitoring of personal and academic evolution.
It advises on the techniques of intellectual work, methodology of university study, preparation of exams, improvement of academic performance, orientation for the decision making in the choice of subjects, goal setting, time organization…
In addition, internal personal resources are enhanced to control anxiety and manage stress, overcome relationship problems, oral presentations, improve self-esteem, and cope with negative events (deaths, separations, illnesses, mild depressions, phobias, etc.). In short, to solve the problems that arise in the life of a university and that could prevent adequate academic performance and personal excellence.
